Betsy Tanner

Betsy is from San Antonio and has a BBA from UTSA, a BSN from UTHSCSA and MSN-FNP from UT Arlington. She recently achieved her board certification as a FNP with her advanced practice license pending. Her nursing experience has been as a circulator in the Operating Room. She enjoys learning and is looking forward to her new role as a Nurse Practitioner. Betsy is married and has a daughter that she enjoys spending as much time as possible. They have three rescued dogs. In her free time she likes to cook for her family and take trips to the beach.

Carl is certified by the National Board of Surgical Technology & Surgical Assisting as a CST/CSFA, and is licensed as an LSA by the Texas Medical Board. Carl earned an AAS degree in Surgical Assisting, and has been assisting in the operating room since 1991. He has devoted his experience to Cardiothoracic assist, however he also is proficient in EVH, including Radial Artery Harvesting. Carl’s hobbies include golf and fishing, and he is married with 2 daughters.

Christi earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas A&M International University located in Laredo, Texas and specializes in cardiothoracic and peripheral vascular surgery. Christi loves swimming, biking, kayaking, and spending time with her husband and 3 children.

Fermin received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing at UT Arlington and assists in Peripheral Vascular, and Robotic surgeries including General, Robotic GYN, and Robotic Urology. Fermin has attained his certification in Perioperative Nursing (CNOR) along with RNFA training. Fermin enjoys hunting, fishing, playing piano, and spending time with his wife and 4 kids.

Gina earned two bachelors degrees from Texas A&M University and completed her graduate training in Cardiovascular Perfusion at Texas Heart Institute in Houston, Texas. Gina is certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion and the American Board of Surgical Assistants as well as maintaining current licenses in Perfusion and Surgical Assisting with the Texas Medical Board. Gina works in all areas of surgical assisting with extensive training in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery specializing in endoscopic vessel harvesting. She is married and has 3 children.

Glen was born in Austin and moved to the Dallas-Fort Worth area before high school where he has been living for the last 30 years. He earned a BS degree in Microbiology from the University of Texas at Arlington. Glen worked as an autotransfusionist/perfusion assistant for Specialty Care prior to becoming a perfusionist. He completed his perfusion training at the Texas Heart Institute. He has over 15 years experience as a perfusionist and has been a pediatric perfusionist for the last four years. He is married with four children. His hobbies include cheering and watching his son play basketball at Williams College in Arkansas and his daughter in high school playing basketball and soccer. He considers himself an occasional golfer.

Jeff graduated from the Episcopal School of Perfusion Science located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He then went on to Meridian School of Surgical First Assisting in Nashville, Tennessee. Jeff is recognized as a board certified perfusionist and surgical assist through the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion and the National Board of Surgical Technologists and Surgical Assistants. Jeff is a specially trained Cardiovascular, Thoracic, and Vascular assist and also loves fishing, gardening, cooking, and fitness in his free time.

Karen graduated from University of the Incarnate Word school of nursing in 2008 with a BSN and worked as an Emergency Room nurse since that time She. graduated from Chamberlain College of Nursing April 2018 with a MSN as a family nurse practitioner. Karen became a board certified nurse practitioner in May 2018 and has since been working in various clinics providing care to adults and pediatric patients. She has 3 children-4 year old twin girls and a 16 year old son and her hobbies include enjoying outdoor activities with her family to include camping, beach vacations, traveling, and yoga.

Peter trained as a First Assist at Meridian located in Nashville, Tennessee and is a recognized CST/CSFA. Peter is proficient in Endoscopic Vessel Harvesting, Plastics, and Robotics including Urology, OB/GYN, and General Surgery. In his free time, Peter enjoys hunting.

Santos joined the USAF in 1983, trained as an airborne Russian linguist and served in Alaska and Arizona before attending the Air Force Physician Assistant Training Program in 1992. Board certified in surgery and emergency medicine, he began working in CT and vascular surgery in 2001 in San Antonio, Texas, then moved to Illinois for 6 years. He has recently returned to Texas and is a member of Surgery Professionals. He and his wife Lisa have 7 children.

Todd earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from University of Texas Health Science Center located in San Antonio, Texas. Todd achieved his certification in Perioperative Nursing (CNOR) along with RNFA training. Todd has experience working in Cardiothoracic, Peripheral Vascular, and Orthopedic surgery. Todd is married with two daughters and enjoys hunting.
